Senior Linux Engineer, Enterprise TechnologyNew York, NY
Our firm, a high-frequency proprietary trading firm founded around 1995, seeks a Senior Linux Engineer to join our Enterprise Technology team.
The Enterprise Technology division is responsible for delivering high-quality IT products for our global employee population via core infrastructure, automation, security, and cloud-based services.
Responsibilities
• Developing architecture solutions for servers and desktops in a Linux operating system environment
• Leading projects from concept to implementation and execution, and providing ongoing support
• Identifying, prioritizing, and resolving Level 2/3 incidents and requests
• Proactively identifying problem areas and providing solutions to enhance the quality of service and prevent future problems
• Researching new methods to leverage emerging tools to continuously enhance our systems
• Installing and supporting Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS)
• Working efficiently with our internal technology teams and other operations groups
Qualifications
• 5+ years of industry experience in systems engineering and technical support
• An educational background in computer science or IT (preferred)
• Experience with scripting and coding (Python, PowerShell, Go, Perl, Java, C, Shell, etc)
• A background in Linux package management (dpkg/apt, rpm/yum, etc)
• Working knowledge of IT automation frameworks such as salt/ansible/or puppet
• Knowledge of desktop/server hardware and computer security
• In-depth knowledge of system/OS level networking
• Experience supporting storage infrastructure (netapp/emc)
• Experience balancing information security with systems administration
• Strong ability to work well as part of a team that supports production, back-office computing, and end user support functions
• The ability to read and interpret technical documents
• Participate in off-hours, weekends, and holidays on-call support as required
• Available for occasional travel to different Offices based out of New York and London to provide support from those regions
